Keep your teen daughter’s skin hydrated with no nasties, master eye makeup in a minute with RAWW Cosmetics eye pencils, and heal tight muscles and inflamed skin with one of my favourite creams.
This month I also made my first The Ordinary purchase – a small bottle packed with something you may not have heard of before that promises to be a super hydrator for my skin.
Other newbies on the bathroom shelf include a face moisturiser with SPF I am testing out with hubby and a body lotion that takes me away to a tropical island every time I smell it!
FAVOURITES
Andalou Acai & Kombucha Oil Free Moisturiser $34.99

Andalou Acai & Kombucha Oil Free Moisturiser is my first favourite for this month from my 15-year-old daughter. It’s been a journey (and still is) convincing my teen that natural is best! Now and then I buy a new product and see if it gets the thumbs up – I’m not always successful.
I have a few Andalou Naturals products I use every day so when this moisturiser from the Clear Skin range (perfect for teenage skin) was on sale I grabbed it. I forgot for a few weeks that I gave it to her to try and then out of the blue she exclaimed “Mum that moisturiser is sooo good!”
Nourished with Fruit Stem Cells harvested from the Argan Tree, the Andalou Naturals Clear Skin Range includes innovative ingredients such as Kombucha which helps to promote the growth of healthy skin flora whilst reducing blemishes. Willow Bark protects the skin and also fights blemishes, while Lemon Extract works to balance excessive oil production.
More feedback from the teen was it feels really nice on the skin and it’s great under make-up – so that’s a win for me and her! It also has a lovely light texture and a pleasant sweet citrus fragrance.
It may be more than you want to spend on a moisturiser for your teenager but buy it on sale and know that you are giving them a great natural moisturiser designed for their skin – and hopefully they like it as much as my daughter!
Buy online from Nourished Life, or find in Chemist Warehouse and Priceline nationally.
RAWW Babassu Oil Eye Pencil $19.99

I have been testing and enjoying a lot of the Australian RAWW Cosmetics range recently. These eye pencils are a game changer for me.
Why? Because I am not a big makeup person and this just makes eye makeup easy!
Now I don’t wear eye shadows or liner regularly. Only on a night out or for a special event. I don’t own a lot of make-up so these seemed like a good addition to my makeup drawer.
The RAWW Cosmetics eye pencils are soft, creamy eye pencils packed with Certified Organic skin-loving superfoods. They glide on easily thanks to avocado, coconut and sweet almond oils, and can also blend easily with the smudge tip included. I found using them quick and easy – I don’t have the patience for long make-up routines!
Available in 6 shades, I bought Nutty Beige as I like a light colour across the lid and into the corner, and I bought the dark brown Cocoa Butter to line the eye and add some depth.
AND there is a makeup tutorial showing how to use them for women like me who need some tips!
Another RAWW favourite I reviewed in my July Faves & Finds , and I am also currently trying their Flutter Lash mascara and Kale’d It Nail Lacquer.
Buy at Nourished Life, find at health food stores or go directly to their website – they offer $10 off your first order.
Elektra Magnesium Cream $29.70

I have been using magnesium on my skin for a long time. Initially I used a spray but now I like to alternate with this Elektra Magnesium Zest Citrus Cream.
There are are many benefits to taking magnesium especially transdermally, and along with taking magnesium tablets orally I use this cream on my back and hip regularly, as well as other muscles when injured or post-exercise.
Elektra Magnesium Cream is a unique blend of 15% potent, food grade Magnesium Chloride. It features high fat content with a complex blend of nutritious plant oils, butters and extracts that are infused with the highly absorbable magnesium.
Although I use this cream mainly for muscle relaxation and recovery, it can also be used as a daily anti-aging, hydrating and protective moisturiser. Other uses include supporting better sleep and it’s a great massage cream which can be used on all ages.
Many people claim this range of magnesium creams relieves their muscular tension and spasms, and has helped their skin conditions. Certainly worth a try if you haven’t found anything else that works for you.
The Elektra Magnesium Zest Citrus Cream has a light lemongrass-bergamot aroma with medium cream texture. It’s ideal for combination skin, hydrating for dry skin and also works well as an anti-acne cream to help skin detox. I like this natural fragrance over the herbal but there is also Island Spice and Sensory Gold.
Purchase online from Nourished Life, or buy from select health stores and practitioners, or visit their website.
NEW FINDS

The Ordinary 100% Plant Derived Squalane
Squalane is an ingredient I knew nothing about until recently and haven’t tried on my skin. I wrote about it over on Instagram not that long ago.
WHAT’S SQUALANE?
- Squalane is a hydrogenated version of squalene, a compound produced naturally by our sebaceous glands.
- The Ordinary use 100% plant-derived Squalane.
- Botanical sources can be olives, wheat germ, sugar cane, rice bran and other plants.
- It’s a natural emollient, offers incredible hydration, can help prevent fine lines and wrinkles plus it’s been proven to fight free-radical damage as an antioxidant.
- Unlike other oils, squalane has a lighter texture on the skin which helps penetration and it’s gentle making it perfect for all skin types.
I just picked this up at Priceline recently so will update on how my mature skin likes it over the next couple of months. Reviews say it is super hydrating!

Glow Lab Age Renew Total Defence SP15 Moisturiser
Hubby and I needed a new day moisturiser with SPF factor so I decided we should try a Glow Lab product.
Glow Lab is a New Zealand brand dermatologically-tested and pH balanced so it’s suitable for all skin types. Formulations are sourced from nature and blended with scientifically-proven ingredients to create natural products that work – and of course, no added nasties.
The Glow Lab Age Renew Total Defence SP15 Moisturiser comes in a glass pump bottle – helpful as you pump just enough, so less wastage.
This moisturiser doesn’t feel heavy even though it contains SPF although it has a slight stickiness to it. I like the subtle floral fragrance and so far we are both using it happily.
$20.99 from Big W, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse or Priceline.
Planeta Organica Organic Coconut Natural Body Lotion
I am a sucker for anything coconut. I spotted this moisturiser on the shelves at Chemist Warehouse and had to try! It’s a European brand distributed by The Rosehip Specialists whose RosehipPLUS range I love.
The coconut smell does not disappoint and I like the texture – light and easily absorbed. I feel like I am about to lie under a palm tree on an island holiday every time I use it!
Planeta Organica Body Lotion is vegan product and seems to contain ingredients from organic farming with few nasties but I can’t see that it is Certified Organic. The labeling is an example of how brands can use the words natural and organic but you really do need to look closer to work out what ingredients they actually use!
$9.99 from Chemist Warehouse in Australia.
